How does that work? Unironically asking. Genuinely curious

>>664914 Basically, you don't feel like you're there. It's more like you're watching yourself do things instead of actually doing it.
Like, if you're playing a first-person vidya being played by someone you can influence to do things. You still have control over yourself more or less, but you don't really feel anything.
An example would be that I was having fun with some friends yesterday. Just chilling, laughing. But I was only watching myself do it. I didn't feel any of it.

>>664920 how do you know if you have this?? It's strange. I only see intense cases of this on the internet. With like different personas and stuff that pops in and out. Or maybe that's a different type?

>>664921 That's multiple personality disorder. It's very different.
Disassociation is more of a coping mechanism than a mental illness. It helps you escape from your body in a way, and not really feel or control what you're doing as much. As I said, you're still in control, but it's more that you influence the person that is you instead of actually being you.
Multiple personality disorder I'm not too educated on, but it's basically becoming a different person for a while.

>>664923 ah okay. I apologize. I saw the term dissacoating in vids describing multiple persobalities and wondered if they're the same.
It's interesting that that's a concept that not everyone knows. Sometimes i catch myself living life in 3rd person if that makes sense but i always assumed that it's normal. Must suck gurl

>>664927 Nah, it's all good. It makes sense to associate them, even if they're not the same. As I said, I don't know shit about MPD. People who have it probably deal with a lot of disassociation.
Oh, it's not really unusual. Most people have done it at least a few times. It's not a diagnosis or anything, just a "state" if that makes sense. It can come from stuff like stress, anxiety, depression, shit like that. Everyone experiences at least some of that, you know? At least stress.

>>664935 It is a real thing, but as more research has been done on it the name has been change to "disassociative identity disorder". Again, I don't know a lot about it, but it is a real diagnosis and real disorder.

man, go to the endocrinologist. I had such a problem in high school. It was so strong that I could not even concentrate and saw everything as if through a matte film. I visited an endocrinologist and it turned out that the whole problem was in my thyroid gland and pituitary gland. When I drank the prescribed medication, everything went away.
