It is indeed autism, but something tells me OP already knew it.

>>656843 I agree. I'm not sure what the purpose of this thread is. Maybe she just likes the word autism?

>>656848 i just wanted to see if people use the word autism casually, because my psychiatrist certainly didn't ("being unable to understand social cue" isn't enough for them)

>>656849 A diagnosis shouldn't be taken lightly. Having a difficult time understanding social cues is a big symptom of ASD, but it doesn't have to be. I'm currently talking to a lot of therapists about this, and I'm in the same boat as you. The only reason I'm able to function socially at all is because I've observed people and over time learned what some different things mean, but I still have problems with it. Despite all that + other symptoms there is a chance I don't have it.

>>656867 Asperger's is the most common form of ASD, yeah. I know multiple people who have it, and they struggle with that. So do I, but either I'm just better at training myself or don't have it. I guess there's also a possibility that I don't realise how many clues I don't read, and am just as bad at it myself.

Psychiatrists are often crap. Psychiatry is a science, but many psychiatrists practice it with the scientific level of reading the future in guts.
But it's true though that a single point doesn't diagnose to a certain thing.

>>656892 Is psychiatrist and therapist the same thing? I'm not sure because I'm not a native English speaker. If they're the same thing, then I heavily disagree. If they're not, you might be right.
They are not. A psychiatrist will diagnose you with one or more mental disorders and prescribe treatment. A therapist cannot do this. They're often used interchangeably.

>>656934 Ah, okay. They're called the same thing here, so I get confused. I definitely prefer therapists, but, well, as you say, you need a psychiatrist to get a diagnosis, and when it comes to something like ASD it's kind of important to get the diagnosis.
