I'm 18, conflicted about what I'll be doing from here on out. I've been basically asking everyone I know so how about you guys?

RF circuitry, interface, firmware, porting libraries, writing driver code. Embedded systems. It's really a pain sometimes but the job is interesting to me.

All number ID yeah! I'm nurse aide but I definitely don't do this work as a living just basically loafing at my parents' place thinking about what I'm going to do in life, so same lol
Why don't you research some of your interests and see if you can make that into a career. Even tho having a good salary is great, having a job you enjoy is better. Best of luck, g/u/rl!

>>654139 I dropped out of college and work at McDonald's. If I can't somehow pivot into a real career at some point and move out, then I'll call it quits. So, I relate to you there

I worked part time as a chef while studying Network Security but I dropped out in February due to depression and got laid off in Mars.
Luckily I was allowed to get back into studying the same course from home and a friend wants me to learn Unity to work on his indie game(albeit I won't get paid until after release).
So, future is a bit uncertain but it's not hopeless.

College student studying international politics. This semester has been out of whack because of coronachan, though, so I'm not learning shit and I don't know how I'm supposed to bounce back next semester.
I do some freelance translating and web development on the side, though. Still wondering if I can just make *this* a full-time job after I graduate.

Accounting but I loathe it. If you are into simple math, are good at logic and making conclusions, don't mind overtime several times a month because of financial statements and are able to cope with office culture, go for it. I hate office culture and can't handle pressure so I think about quitting. I have to admit that I don't know what else though... So I feel you sister

22, plumbing. When I was younger I hated the thought of any kind of construction work, somehow ended up as a plumber anyway and time flies by fast when you're working.
I install water-, ventilation- and sewer pipes in brand new construction zones, working together with builders and electricians to fit everything in the right places.
The work is physically exhausting at times, but completely clean and the work enviroment is always nice, and the workload is very varied and fun.

>>654333 >>654266 Indeed! I still can't shake the feeling of being a jack of all trades, master of none. A company would love to underpay our kind of profiles (translating, writing, editing, publishing print and web, copy writing, community management...), but working for someone looks like death. Oh well, I might raise goats somewhere instead.

Tax official. Work for losers here. They employ everyone and pay little.
Find what you like and get a degree asap OP. Don't do it half-assed. You really gotta be one of the best to ever make a place for yourself in this world. If your personality is hampering you, that's a perfect time to change.
If you have no leads, I'd say give writing or music a try (unless you already did). Don't fuck it up, good luck.

>>654641 My father has done this work for over 15 years and has his own company now, I learned from working alongside him until I had enough experience to get the job at another company, so I didn't have to study for it.
I don't think I want to do this work for that long though, this line of work doesn't really have a way to climb the status ladder and I want to aim higher eventually, just not sure what would interest me enough to study for years and start from zero again.

Am scientist. Money isn't great - my colleagues that moved on to do data analysis for companies earn a lot more - and there's a lot of work, but i really like what i do, and the freedom that comes with it. This is my PhD's first year, i don't really know if i'm sticking to academia or doing something else like freelance work when i complete it. What i'm sure of is that i really wouldn't wanna work for any company directly

>>653998 Learn a trade skill. College/University is a scam for most. Go if you need to or can afford it without loans. Know you'll have probably 10 jobs in 10 years. Learn how to interview and be sociable.
