I can't even watch an episode of something without distracting myself. What do? How's your concentration doing?

Very bad unless it's something I'm interested in. Recently got diagnosed with ADHD and might get some meds though. Better late than never.
If I decide to pick some up I'm gonna get back into programming.

>>f0e0cd You might want to tell a doctor about it and ask him for an ADD/ADHD evaluation. Depending on where you live it might be cheap or expensive but if it doesn't cost too much it's worth it imo. Even without meds you can get some guidelines on how to handle it better.

My concentration's fucked more than usual. these days. I'm a pretty avid reader but now I can't even read a single story without everything just falling apart in my head.
I know I have ADHD, and I've been coping with it pretty well. It's just the last... month? has been pretty bad

Get it checked by a professional.

Maybe you're just bored of watching TV shows? I know it can be hard but try doing something a bit more productive like creating something or even playing with something.

I feel you about the concentration these days - watching anime is a struggle. I've chalked it down to this quarantine dragging me down, so maybe it's the same for you.

>>65101 I don't watch tv at all.

>>651519 TV shows are not only available on TV. VOD is also an option. Along physical copies like DVD and Bluray. Most seasonal/episodic show today is a TV show. There have been some distributed only online, but most of it would be a TV show. Like anime for example. So maybe you don't watch TV, but you do watch TV series/shows. If that makes any sense...

My concentration has been shit for two or three years already unless I start to hyperfixate on something for a couple of weeks and then drop with a sigh of relief Dunno if that smells ADHD but I kinda never checked for it, too afraid for it to be true Because if it's true then it gives me some slack for my procrastination habits and that's the last thing my underdisciplined brain needs, depression had been enough already

adhd does not require medication

>>651886 In some cases. I have a friend who has ADHD, and that medication really was necessary. Like, you noticed it very heavily every time he didn't take it, and it was not good times.

>>651876 Yeah that smells ADHD. G/u/rl, cut yourself some slack! You're not undisciplined, you're dealing with a brain weirdness. You can't just pretend you don't have it!
My life was A LOT better once I admit I have adhd. I start to work with it instead of kicking myself whenever I get distracted and my productivity actually went up!

is it just me or the amount of adhd threads increased recently, which makes me happy. but then I found that I have nothing to say about the matter. uhh, organisation tips, anyone? recently I find that I have no sense of time at all, so I drop all tips that require a time limit and instead rely on my energy levels. e.g. if I'm very motivated, I try working. or if I'm bored from "entertaining" activities (cant focus on anime etc), I find that working is actually more stimulating.

>>652245 did you try setting timers? Tho doing what feels right is also good if you don't need to follow a strict shedule or somesuch

does it feel like you're enduring the moment ?

>>652245>>652280 Yeah, I work based on energy level too. If I'm in the mood to work, I can work really well for a long time, which I consider makes up for the time when I can't work.
Setting timer to *start* work usually makes things worse, but I set some timer to *stop* what I'm doing, to stop me from getting hyperfixated and using up too much energy on it.
