How come I always keep finding a new hobby, buying all kinds of supplies for it, watching a ton of videos and/or guides about it, but never actually start participating in said hobby and actually doing shit, and eventually forget about it an a week/month? Please send help.

Maybe you burn out on a subject before you start because of all that prep?

Maybe you just like talking about things but not doing it? Have you ever considered being an armchair philosopher?

Only the start is difficult, once you've gotten it into your schedule, it will be easier

>>649292 Maybe. When I get interested in something I basically live and breathe the subject 24/7. And then one moment it's suddenly all gone. It's just how I am, I guess.
>>649313 Sounds about right. Do I have to just force myself, or is there a trick or a method to ease myself out of it?
>>649423 Oh, I already am an armchair philosopher of a pretty high degree, and I hate it. With a passion.
>>649449 Maybe the issue is that I don't have a schedule. Never saw a point in one tbh.

>>649464 you gotta push yourself to do something. We can always come up fo reasons saying "maybe it's this or maybe it's that" but through all of that it just matters if you tried to take a step into doing it rather than coming up with reasons on why this isnt working

You need to create new pathways in the brain in order to get used to something. The way for your brain to do this is repetition but you can also help by eating and sleeping properly. There are some mushroom based supplements that helps your brain build new pathways faster like lion's mane.
Also if you have ADHD and/or high functioning autism you may need to keep at it a bit longer than regular people in order to get used to something.

>>650260 It just seems like it might be easier to first identify any potential issues that prevent this from working and deal with those. Or do I just have to literally overpower myself into doing something every time?
>>650264 Eating and sleeping properly has been pretty hard recently due to the COVID shenanigans, though... Not sure if I can get any of those mushroom supplements, but I'm already taking vitamin D3 and planning to start taking 5-HTP to help with general motivation.

>>650264 There's been a lot of signs in the recent years that could point to ADHD. Can't really get a professional evaluation and diagnosis right now though, because of, well, you know...
