Should I take a year off school to pursue other things?

So, a little context. I am turning 17 later this year, and I'm struggling a lot with school. As in, I have fallen off completely. I only have one class that I attend, and the rest I skip. My therapist has made it so being away from classes doesn't directly hurt any of my grades, but I also can't get said grades without attending at least sometimes, so I will most likely fail.
Things aren't really getting better for me so another year like this would just be wasted.

That's why I am considering taking a year off from school to pursue stuff like writing, game development and maybe music. Those first two are hobbies that I have but don't really have the time and motivation to actively do because I still attend school even though I barely attend classes.
Does anyone have experience with doing something like this, and would it be dumb of me to go for it? I think it could be good for me, but I'm kinda just a kid still.

Yeah, I would say after about 3 years in my current school, I'm starting to burn out a bit.
Maybe look at doing something useful if you're gonna have a break from school for a year.

If you can afford it, then yeah, go for it. Try to have a plan for that year off, though. A long term project, a job, something to fill the days so you don't end up wasting it feeling useless.
I went straight to college after high school and ended up dropping out after 3 semesters because I don't gel with my field of study at all. Wished I spent more time doing some soulsearching. The half-year break I had after dropping out was really helpful.

Guys don't forget that there is a chance that OP will enjoy his time off from school so much he'll just drop out then a few years from now he will sit and remember his school days and see all the acquaintances he used to somewhat know live ordinary lives while he possibly lives the life of a bum who regrets his past life choices or something like that.. Watch or read Golden boy if you wanna get motivated.

>>630465 I can afford it, yeah. I would be setting myself a goal to finish a bigger project and I'd try to treat it like a job.

So, I've applied to a couple schools together with the schools advisor, just in case I decide against this. I really want to do it though.
