Before you can try to convince someone to change their beliefs, you have to remove them from a defensive mindset. People, especially on the English speaking internet, will see your challenging of their beliefs as an attack against them, and you have to get them to see past that. Try arguing that their mindset is incorrect, then look for contradictions they make to push against.
