Depressed right now

| G/u/rls, what do you do to distract yourself from feeling hollow and mentally exhausted?

| Being with friends and at least trying to go really deep into my hobbies, like, nerd out over stuff basically. A lot of caffeine and nicotine too, but those are not recommended as they just make the cycle worse over time. Taking time off from the real world helps a lot too. Taking breaks from life and just talking to people or investing yourself into things. Just make sure to not completely fall out of things. Other than that there's not a lot that helps aside from maybe therapy.

| drink. or if available, take drugs. There's really not much of an alternative unfortunately

| Having someone to talk to really helps.. even if it may not solve all the problems, having someone to vent to would always be a good source to let off your stress.

| >>625551 only if drinking makes you forget sometimes when I drink I get more depressed or...horny lolol best of luck with that g/url

| Lots of heavy metal music. And yelling. Sometimes both...

| >>625574 ooh that's a good one!

| >>625581 Dont recommend it though. You'll get mentally AND physically exhausted. But damn it feels good though

| Hobbies, try something new, do something, you think might be useful later in life

| Escapism, copious amounts of it, mostly through consuming media: reading or videogames are a bit more engaging so you're sufficiently distracted
For a quick dopamine fix you could just go jack off but not too often or you build tolerance
Meeting with a friend can help if you have enough juice for that or you havent been ghosting them which really sucks because then you cant contact them without being fidgety about potential questions and I probs should just shut up now shouldnt I

| Anyway in the long run the most important thing is to manage not to isolate yourself I guess and have things that take your mind outta the empty trashcan that is your psyche

| It's funny how people assume their temporary sadness is the depression.

Do some handcraft or any other kind of productive work.

| Depression is the result of an inadequate lifestyle. Some tips:
>Exercizing
>Eating whole foods, no garbage
>Talking with friends, preferably IRL
>Listening to upbeat music
>Avoiding weed, alcohol, porn as much as possible
>Learning a skill such as drawing, composing music or programming
>Sleeping before 11PM
>Recognizing politics as the dumbest thing on Earth

Doing these for some months helps you a lot. I was able to get a grip on my life and finally be able to like myself.

A few of those things I agre with, but most of it is just personal preference. What hobbies you have, what music you listen to, how your body and mind reacts to drugs and if you watch porn or not, like, that is very different from person to person. Recognising that politics is dumb I can agree is a good thing, but for some people it is very important and can give them goals and reasons to live for. It's best to just stay away though.

I tried to stay vague to accomodate to different tastes. Upbeat music can be anything as long as it's not bringing you down (you'd rather avoid dark ambient if you're already feeling down) and it's better to abstain from drugs including coffee from time to time. The danger of politics is that make your mood subject to the whims of others and prevents you to take your life in your own hands. For nothing.
But the most important is the move well, eat well, sleep well part.

| Stuff like that isn't a fix for depression. What OP says doesn't sound like depression though so it's pretty solid advice. With regards to learning a skill, don't choose something you want

| FUCK

| Choose something that you want to do because you like doing it, not because you want the practical ability. Don't learn to program so you can be a programmer, do it because you enjoy programming. That will make it more fulfilling as you aren't comparing yourself to a goal and seeing how far you still have to go.

Ah, got you. Yeah that's solid.

| >>626113 I mean you may have depression but there are times when it just hits harder, you know? I had and still have depression for years but there are times when you are able to muster up the strength to what you need to and other times when you can't even get out of bed and just want to die. It varies, you know?

| >>625586 I know but you're right it feel great and then you can just sleep right after and for a second pretend like everything is okay with the world lol I least I pretend everything is fine

| >>626351
I agree with all of these except going to sleep before 11:PM. What relevancy does that hold? I'm much more happier with life staying up all night.

| >>626547
I'm the same, but it has been very much proven that not sleeping at night is unhealthy and can contribute to making you feel more depressed and that kind of stuff, even if you get enough sleep during the day.

| u know, I'm an owl person myself and in 2020 I tried different time to fall asleep and wake up A LOT. I really loved to not sleep at night, but now I realized that waking up in the early morning is best. it may be personal preferences, but, I repeat, I was also a lover of night work.
