I like to chew toothpicks when im concentrating on tasks. When i leave a toothpick i have chewed somewhere for a while, and my puppy unsupervised near it, he will proceed to eat it. The toothpicks are really small; about 4cm in length. I cant really see the evolutionary advantage for this behavior. I dont think canines eat tiny pieces of twigs in nature. This has led me to believe that he is doing it just to imitate my behaviour.

My dog does similar things, without the imitation factor. Dogs are just kinda weird sometimes.
