I just realized 'this' cannot be turned into a possesive pronoun

Think about it, when you want to talk about something that belongs to 'this', you always say something like "this thing's" or "this one's", which is using "this" as an adjective, not a pronoun. "This's" is an abbreviation of "this is", and isn't a possessive pronoun, like He/His is.

Erm, I'm not sure but it might have to deal with "this" already being a demonstrative pronoun ? If you want it to be possessive, you'd say "its" maybe ?

that is because 'this', 'that', 'those', and 'these' are demonstrative pronouns, and can refer to any preceding subject or object. If you say "the robot gave the girl a flower" you can follow it with a sentence beginning with "that girl", "that flower", or "that robot", so you need to clarify what 'that' is with a noun. sometimes we use 'that' on its own in english when it isn't posessive, but only because we are lazy; it should be clarified.
