How is this board still online?

I like this place. I can pop in every now and then and sometimes there's an interesting thread running. Kind of remind me of the old days before internet became mainstream

Longer, earnest, more serious-sounding threads tend to signal that you don't want joke answers, though. Depends on how you present it

That's not the experience I've had with making threads. I only make serious long ones but people just respond with inane bs anyway. Just check the pentesting thread on tech if you want the latest example.
It doesn't seem like making threads about subjects is possible anymore. The only threads getting replies are threads where people can talk about themselves or make low-effort jokes.

It is natural that you'll get a few meme/shitpost replies, it is an anon board afterall, plus it id filled with teen~young adult. Just hope that no one is taking the bait/feeding them and derail your thread.
Go take a look at the yukkuri thread on /u/. OP asked a simple question, replied with some trolls, the troll got ignored, and she got some serious answers in the thread.

/tech/ is terrible most of the time, but there was a time that I showed off what I made there and it was received well. The stars aligned in odd times.

| A maid pointed out to me that people using danger/u/ as their first anon board is like their childhood anon experience, similar to how ours began in Chanology-era 4chan (circa 2006). It's interesting to think about.

It varies in quality from month to month, and the discord is too big, too fast and too crazy. The influx of reddit postings wasn't fun. I expect we'll see another influx when the next game drops.
Still, its a nice place here.
