Japanese the Manga Way is a good starter for grammar that doesn't completely bore you to death.

Takes a shitload of extra time. If, unlike me, you have a life, you might drop it fast like most weebs do.
Tae Kim's Grammar Guide is the one I used. It's a "for dummies" kinda guide, but it gets the job done. Can figure out the rest by reading shit in Japanese. Kanji's the main timesink in this. Even when you know 2k there will be over 9000 words your knowledge won't apply to. With it, you'll be able to look up shit tho.

>>584857 +1 for Tae Kim's guide.
Wanikani is pretty good to learn kanji, but to get the non-basic kanji you've got to pay.
Duolingo is baaaaad, unless you already have a grasp at the language from elsewhere. In which case it's pretty decent to practice with.
Be ready to open jisho.org a lot.

>>584861 +1 for wanikani (done it all the way) and jisho (some words it doesn't have however)
