Yes, I am 100% serious when I claim that conciousness was achieved in the span of 2 seconds.
Jokes aside, conciousness is defined as the awareness of our inner process. If you think about it how else could it haven come into being?
| Well, an important thing to note is that people are born and die. If consciousness had to 'come into being' why is everyone conscious now?
I personally think consciousness was attained gradually through evolution. It's hard for us to think about, though, because nobody knows what it's like to be not conscious. That's why it's called 'unconsciousness'.
| Perhaps a better way to put it is: when you wake up from a nap, it's often hard to be oriented and think at full capacity for a few minutes. Humans probably maxed out at that level of mental capacity for a long time. But, since being a little more conscious was better for survival: evolution.
