For one reason and another, we had an impromptu swimming pool in the backyard of the house we're staying in for summer. The thing is just a big pool of water made of bricks and tiles without any fancy equipment. Nothing is put in the water either. Will I get cholera or something if I try swimming in there?

Not having fancy equipment isn't a problem, that just means it might get leaves and dirt in it. For the water, you should chlorinate it. The CDC website probably has better information.
