I have an idea for a board/card game that pitches multiple players against each other in a sort of gang/faction war where everyone's fighting for control of a city.
The setting would be kind of gritty and dark, but with some more fantasy elements and a bit of humor.
Players will be setting up businesses, managing and recruiting units and launch attacks on each other's creatures and properties.
It would have a social aspect where you make deals and stuff with others.

Your creatures/troops/characters and some other things would be in decks of cards, so it has some randomisation in it.
The different creature types/factions would have different mechanics and different strategies.
The reason I'm posting this here is because I wanted to share the idea to get people's opinions on it.
Of course I can't just up and make something like this out of nowhere, but I'd like to play with the idea and maybeake a little prototype.

>>559680 You draw cards like in a normal card game, and you can play one of each card type on your turn. Most cards have certain requirements that need to be met in order for them to be played.
A marksman for example, usually requires you to pay a bit of the games currency to play it. In order to earn that money, you can send creatures you already have in play to do jobs, or you can kill creatures with bounties etc.

A card that everyone uses is the Worker. It's a weak creature with no abilities, but can be played for free.
That/those workers are what you will be using to either start or work small businesses/jobs, put up bounties, sacrifice them to the cult and everything you need to get started.
I'm still a little unsure on the deck size, hand size and if it the different types of cards should be split into two decks. For example one deck just for items that you need to pay to draw from.

The card types I have are: Creature, Job, Location, Store and Item.
Creatures and jobs I've at least partially explained. Locations are cards where you can place other cards for a certain effect. Stores are cards that if you control them you can buy stuff like bullets (and maybe items). Items are cards with abilities or static effects on them that are not creatures.

There will be some dicerolls too. I can use a full card as an example.
Wangstreet Sharpshooter Creature - Marksman Play Cost: Pay 2¥. When Wangstreet Sharpshooter enters play it gets two bullets. Use, pay one bullet, roll: 1-14 = 1 damage to any creature | 15-20 = 2 damage to any creature 0/2
Roll refers to rolling a D20.
The 0/2 is the stats of the creature. 0 attack, 2 hitpoints. If HP = 0 the creature dies. The creature is healed and readied(untapped) at the end of your turn.

Used creatures are turned sideways and when you ready them you turn them back up and they can be used again.
If a creature attacks a ready creature they both deal damage to each other equal to their attack. If a creature attacks a used creature only the attacking one deals damage.
You can use the abilities on creatures on your opponents turn (like the shooting one) but since that would use the creature it would then become more vulnerable (if it had any attack).

An example of a location would be a card with to kind of slots for creatures, one at the back and one at the front. The one on the back can not be attacked as long as there is a creature in front of it in the location.
As you have probably noticed by now though, I don't yet have any win condition. I'm considering making it a thing where you have one special creature, kind of like a commander that comes out after a certain number of turns that needs to be killed, but I'm not sure.

I'm also considering making the workers unable to attack so people don't just trade-kill each other's workers and get nowhere.

Bruh I hope your game takes off but as advice. It's hard to explain games using only text. I would suggest learning how people in Kickstarter explain their games if you need to pitch anything. GL!

>>560149 Dude, I'm not anywhere near pitching this. Only random thought I wrote on for 30min. I love your positivity though!
If I were to ever explain this in detail I'd probably have to do it visually.

Bruh, make sure you write this down in a proper doc somewhere. Don't rely on a dumb textboard to store your ideas.
Also, just developing this as a text manual is ok, actually. A lot of my friends does that, and I kind of have a hobby of just reading the manual of every board game I come across. When the mechanics are solid, you should def print the cards and do some test play though.

>>560307 Yeah. I should probably make more cards and start testing it. I have partially written down the rules, but I should take your advice and do it properly. Thanks!

like cyberpunk 2020, but like, a lot less of the rpg elements and have it be card oriented.
you have to as a group split up and become rival gangs, and you work to expand territory in night city until your gang controls the city.
to play your roll dice to move around a city game board and set up and collect job cards and reward cards, then there could be wild cards that can do some good for your game or some bad. And collect weapons and cybernetics to fight enemy gang members.
