I feel uncomfortable eating around others at the table

Idk if this is really me asking for advice or just making sure I'm not crazy but I've found it increasingly harder to eat regular meals at home like breakfast or the like around family members, specifically my mum. To be fair it might have to do with her being strongly against phones at the table, which I respect but I also feel significantly more vulnerable at the table, like I can't just tune them out anymore. Am I just antisocial or are these the first signs of phone addiction?

Half and half. It is a good idea to distance yourself from your phone somewhat, as phone addiction is a prominent issue. However, personally I feel awkward around the table myself, especially if it involves people I dislike/don't know well/etc. It is a good idea though to also break out of that shell, and engage more. It may be difficult, but it's an important skill to learn even among introverts such as ourselves.
