you can actually erase memories using hypnosis. You will usually need an actual tist, its usually too specific for a file to work well, but files could work, depending on what you want to forget. Make sure it has a really long induction (fractionalization gets you super deep), because you will have to be really blank for it to work well. Maybe even use a loop (set an alarm to go off after a few hours so you dont spend a day like that! Happened to me, really fun but scary lol)

Practically, you can't, technically there's a chemical that might prevent the brain from forming memories but has the side effect of reducing or removing memory's you think of while under the effects, at least on mice; real answer is just don't think about it, every time you think about it force a new topic in your mind preferably a happy one, every time you remember something it's tainted a little so thinking happy things might make it less bad. - 0_qualifications_g/u/rl
