Unironically: Where have you searched online for love/friendship and found it?

Whether dating sites or discord servers, has there ever been a place that actually worked for you? A Internet relationships both platonic and romantic seem so rare and fleeting, and everything else is just passive acquaintances who might like a funny shitpost you retweet but never speak to you directly in your life.
Places like OKCupid and Tinder are what normies use, right?
Is there hope to gaining friends or finding a girl to hold you when all you have is the internet?

Don't join some shitpost server either. Find a comfy server or one that is very community based, like they sometimes organize meet ups, or just stick to a couple a channels. Depending on how comfy and cordial people are, you could make a many great friends. I know I have.

A private MMO server for a niche interest slice of life game. The server died, but the users migrated to Skype, then Discord. I'm going to pop the question in June and hopefully be married before the end of 2019.

I met several friends in a tolkien themed IRC-channel on dalnet 15 years ago. We ended up creating Swedens largest fantasy organisation with meetups and annual meetings. I ended up dating this hottie for a while too.
Our community is pretty much dead today but most of us in the core group are still friends.

I've joined a fuckload of discords in the hopes of trying to find one with a tight-knit but welcoming community that I feel I can relate to and be comdortable around and share interests, but they're all either >dead >massive 5000 member spam servers where the general chats are nonstop posts by randos and you can't keep track >already so acquainted with each other and make it hard to nudge your way in ...granted part of it is my inability to make friends in general or attract a gf.

>>518204>>518210 Same tbh. Outcasts accept all. Depending on how closed the community is though, even the ones they hate they accept, as long as you manage to tolerate them.

It's all just rolling the dice OP. Just recently had an anniversary of sorts with my good friends, some of whom I consider as family, who I met on a really obscure imageboard for an almost decade old anime that I found by complete accident and decided to just start shitposting on in a whim and out of curiosity. It was barely a few months before we got on discord and now here we are, 3 years later and I couldn't be happier about accidently stumbling into that random site

For me it has always been online games, even mobage. Remember that you're not the only one who wants friends, you just have to keep trying until you find a place you're comfortable in
