I started to learn japanese half a year ago but stoped, because i realised that chinese is more usefull. As long as i learn it i can actually make money without any high education (there are some ways in the place i live). So i am learning it right now. Should i learn it to some extent and then start japanese or i can learn both at the same time? Btw i know how to say cat or dog in four languages: cat-kot-mao-neko;dog-sobaka-gou-inu.

Life is like a rpg. Focus on one skill and become a Master in it, or try to do everything and suck at everything

Japanese and Chinese — depending on the dialect and which 'Chinese' it is; refer to VA-11's Donovan Dawson for context — can share similar characters.
Most of my Chinese friends and colleagues are able to read Japanese partially, though I don't know if this is an acquired knowledge or whether they can do this the moment they know Chinese.
And both are definitely useful. If you have the time, do learn both!

If you know chinese characters you can kinda guess what a written Japanese sentence means (which is usually half in Chinese chars), and vice versa.
But verbally they're really different; they don't even share the same language roots. It'll be like learning two different languages that just happen to be written similarly.
So you want to learn both at the same time? Sure why the heck not. I'm learning French and Japanese at the same time and it works fine
