(dissociative identity disorder) Hiiiii g/u/rls So about a month and a half ago I got diagnosed with DID. I'm getting the help I need and I'm seeing a therapist, so that's nice But this condition is really lonely. Because it's not like something you tell people, like how you don't tell people you have PTSD or OCD or whateverthefuck. Like you just keep that to yourself But sometimes you want to see someone who understands right. So you go online

and sometimes that works like you see other people with depression or whatever. Like you see people who get it. It's a little comforting It's a little different for DID though. Because this disorder became a fad in like the 2020 pandemic. So there's all these 14 year olds claiming they have it and have a bajillion alters or whatever. It's really embarrassing and that's all you see online now Twitter, instagram, everything. It's all kids claiming it and being weird

So it gets hard to find other people because like more than half the time they're faking it or they're secretly like those kids who post and glamorize it. So it's like damn! I got nothing! I see reddit is actually normal and has actual adults taking it seriously, but like I'm not gonna use that place so idk This shit's rare too so I can't find people IRL since the odds are against me

I can't even find comfort in my own family because they'd lose their shit if I told them and I KNOW they see it as the "secretly a murderer" disorder because they watched that movie Split
So yeah I'm just yelling into a void right now like there's not much to converse about I guess. Just, this shit sucks g/u/rls!! And there's not much I can do about it ig On the off chance there's a g/u/rl going through the same experience, I understand

I heard disassociating as a bad thing is really real but being two people isn’t real and maybe just a bad coping mechanism, but I think coping mechanisms become real to you, God knows they become real to me. I’m glad ur getting therapy. Do u have friends who care about things u care about? I feel like if ur close enough with someone you can share stuff like that. I miiight but probably not quite that close

Maybe ask your therapist if she knows about any DID support groups in your area.
