Apps for writing

| Hi there. I am a little bit of a writer sometimes writing si-fi or fantasy short or medium length stories. I used to do it on the phone, but I bought a cool laptop and want to migrate there. I write in "Pure Writer" and I thought it was in Windows too, but no. Do you know any good and free Windows applications for writing?

| Yay cool laptop!

| I write directly in LaTeX for easy typesetting, but that's because I'm insane. Don't do that.

| Microsoft Word?

| I've tried a bunch of apps from ms word to "distraction-free" writing apps and honestly the most productive I've ever been is if I use plain old notepad, the built-in text editor.

I use dropbox for sync and backup.

Wordgrinder!
do not know is there windows version of it, or not.
For good result, write it using LaTeX (recommended distribution is TeXlive from TeX User Group, with TeXstudio as IDE for it)
This system more powerful then Word, Writer, etc. But you should learn basics of LaTeX at least as the language of the layout, when in fact, it is a programming language, yes, you literally programming your document).
