Community; your experiences

| Do you experience community in your life? People around you to turn to, people who will help eachother out regardless of means?
What does community mean to you? What are your associations with the term? What memories does it bring out? What are your thoughts on those?

| write your own essay on drupe fruits you assbrained falafel eating monkey

| I thought for a second this would be about the show, Community, which I recall being pretty darn good.

| we live in a society...
-THE JOKESTER-

| I think this is the first Time I've actually I've been in a friend group or at least one where I've actually felt wanted. It kinda feels like I'm just learning how to do stuff that I've should have learned how to do at a young age. But I guess it's better to learn how to interact with people in your 20s than never.

| is this where i mention vrchat?

| I went to a furcon and had sex.
Goodbye!

| relationships are harsh. your priority should be preparing for changes.

I'm an unemployed dropout lmao, I'm just bored and curious

>>1013790
That would be a better thread probably

>>1013797
100%!! It's never too late for that kinda stuff, and I'm glad it's such a rewarding experience for you!!

>>1013802
If you feel like there is genuine community there, then yeah!! Idk much about that kinda, like, "second life" style online stuff but it sounds interesting

Based fur slut

>>1013831
You find safety and preparation easier alone?

| The thing I've found the most in my life is that, unless you're lucky, community doesn't just come to you naturally. You have to build it and your chosen family. Luckily, everyone around you is trying to do the same thing, so just try to build bonds based on common interests. Go to meetups. Even go back to community college or something. People are desperate for connection in our "social" media age, and being the supplier makes you like a crack dealer, but better 8)

| >>1013851
Very true. It has to be built and maintained, but all it takes is a few people who want the same

| I do stuff in the sign language community but I don't actually feel apart of it, same with online stuff, every community I do work in anywhere I just don't feel apart of. Lgbt, programming, retro. I need like, an extrovert to steal me and make me socialize.

| >>1013788 without community there can be no democracy
no wonder its all going downt he shitter

| >>1013868
Having an extrovert who's good at getting you out is a big help for sure

>>1013880
Agreed. Individualistic attitudes and no good space or time for proper socialising is a massive part of why things are the way they are right now. It's been shown to be a main reason for worldwide mental health declines and is known to make people open to and/or passive in the face of fascism. Why care about all those other people when you have no connection to them and only you matter?

| basically we need a war to push unity again?
Something that requires collaboration to survive.
By how fast the technology is constantly evolving, society has too many holes to cover. And it clearly won't stop any time soon, the more individuals keep dragging the advancement the less making "honest" groups will matter. As long as individual rewarding exists, there is a reason for not fully commit in cooperation.

Greed is made seductive, it's incentivesed. Even if that way of living drains the soul out of you and kills you from the inside, you can get the flashy rewards and lifestyle that's worshipped

The first two seasons were amazing imo, then it went downhill but there are still some good episodes sprinkled troughout the rest of the seasons.

| >>1013914 I'll tell you that I've heard many lies in my life, that people suffer and enjoy watching others feel much worse. That they'd even go out of their own way, when they do put much less effort in their work, to make a show just for a single person to fall in desperation.
I'll tell you that informations are hold back from giving others the chance to grown.

| I'll tell you that I've seen many communities that would harshly restrict its members to improve, so that control is contained. That they'd find themselfs lost in a dark maze.
And I'll tell you that talking about hopes is considered a taboo. That they'd find themselfs unable to reach the light, and as such there is no reason to let others escape when with your steps you can put fear to anyone with potential for a bright future.

| >>1013930 >>1013931
There are definitely people who use the promise and illusion of community for control. That's why people are so nationalistic, no? You're told that the people in your country who look like you are your community, and that anyone else is a threat to that
Is it actual community? Usually not, but a lot of people seem to believe it

| it seems that all you need to do is just to wander around and do what you need to pick people out and then just wait to see how they'll interact back.
A loop of trials, you can never expect it to turn out good but you can see it as a way to become come capable so that you'd at least make something that's at least meaningful to live for. It may be not a paradise but it's what we can cherish for as we're just mortal people full of wishes and beliefs which only lead to the darkness.

| A humble power, a painful knowledge.
Is there any reason to make a sense when all there is to do is to find a path to fulfill the inner need to survive?

I'd like to say that I do think there's a lot more to community than just an individual person creating relationships. Having friends and having community ain't necessarily the same thing. I think that's important to keep in mind
