Steam Deck+Dock Test&Review

| Today arrived me dock, so i was testing youtube.. and now i'm posting in danger/burg/ while i'm waiting t download cs:go on my Steam Deck xd
I will let know if will be experience same as on PC.. but as far, i chatted on messenger, using browser casually and now is time to play something ^^ just because it's linux, interface is little different, but not bad xd
(old)

| Parameters of settings: I played Inferno map in CS:GO, with default (probably high) settings on 1920x1200 + 1280×800 (mirroring) on Steam Deck..
Connected: VGA>HDMI>Dock, Keyboard, Mouse>USB Hub>Dock, Headset over 3.5 jack
Internet: 5 GHz Wi-Fi (i was lazy to use LAN)

| Result:
game runned really well, in background i had running browser (Firefox, with YT) and alternative messenger client Caprine.
Game runned really well with 45-60 FPS on Vertigo map.

| Issues what i experienced:
1. I noticed that FPS are little lower, but result would being maybe better if game runned in gaming mode and without mirroring. But stable.
2. When i wanted to talk in game, game dropped to 10 fps or like so.. Linux is using some kind of overlay in active mic, and all apps running in background are having lower performance
3. I heared sound effects of weapons, but not music from music kit. in game i heared music kits of other players when someone had pog

| 4. I had default crosshair - cs:go is probably not syncing crosshair settings.

In general i would say that if i could play on office pc with pentium or on Steam Deck with Dock and other things, Steam Deck is my instant choice. It's really dragon what they could get for all things in Deck and for really friendly price.. With this test is my Steam Deck officially replacing my laptop with i5-5200U, 840M, 2x4GB DDR3L with one catch.

| I will need to move my data from laptop to external HDD/SD, and solve software compatibility Win>Linux, or find alternatives for apps from MS Store, MS Paint etc.

If it's solved, you can get probably one of best well designed hardwares with really well designed OS too. I believe that Lain is using Deck.

I think that Steam Deck is better than i expected from performance side.

| General cons:
-Heavy if you are holding deck up
-Compatibility sometimes, and sudden shutdowns/freezes in some games sometimes
-D-Pad is ok, but could be better
-Buttons Steam and 3 dots button are little losy, and can be "lost" when you don't remember where they are, you cant feel them much.
-Sync is sometimes slower (but won't fail)
-Random disconnects in default setting don't forget to switch to developers mode and disable saving battery mode about 5 GHz networks
-Its airbus smt

| General positives:
+more portable than laptop
+probably more powerful than laptop for same or similar price at the moment
+sw is "handheld designed"
+handheld experience, playing some games is more fun than on gamepad or on pc
+you just login with your steam and you can play instantly your games, it's can't be easier
+desktop mode! you can use it as pc, and download anything you want to! (even different OS if you want to)
+Really nice stereo speakers, its close as have headset

| Of course positives and cons can be more, but these are all what i had in mind ^^

if is there anything what you want to ask, you can sure ask me and i will try to reply best as i can ^^

This hw is also changing way how i thing about sw things and i little plan to move to more multi-platform cloud solutions.
