Windows 11 got leaked

| Man, this start menu sucks ass

| I don't care about windows

| It looks like an improvement to the Windows 10 start menu but what do I know. I never use them anyway.

What's new besides some UI changes anyway?

| >>766917
More spyware I spose.

| Ah yes, pay for the way the task bar is intended to be

| Didn't microsoft said something like win10 will be the last one and just gets updated forever? Did they fucked it up so much that they have to start over with a new windows?

| >>767056
Guess they need some novelty in order to keep the marketing going on.

| The Windows curse lives on

| >>767056
Nah, they said Win10 will be the last regular release. The next one will be a subscription that will be updated forever.

| Really? I could have sworn they said win10 is last ever.

| >>767056 They havent started over with anything. This is a reskin as far as i can tell. It is a dev build though, so who knows how old it is and whats changed since then

| >>767065 Pain, agony even.

| >>767065 If subscription based OSes are the future, I'm going full caveman mode.

| >When you're still living in 2011

| opensource...

| But I want my house to have an even number of windows.

| >>767625
Are you trying to be funny?

| >>767449
Why not become truly civilized and use free software instead? Software monopolies are entirely artificial. They have absolutely no technological advantages compared to free software. Those big IT companies only are successful because there are massive misunderstandings about the nature of information (especially software) by the lazy consumer masses and even more important by the ideologically blinded political/economical decision makers.
Mental property is an abomination.

| >>767629
It was a success, bully

| >>767635
Keep your "funny" one-liners in /u/ and /new/ from now on, K?

| >>767636
Make me, faggot.
Go fuck yourself in the meantime.

Also I'm not >>2bad1b

| >>767636 it was pretty funny though

| >>767638
We try very hard to not turn this place onto another Reddit or whatever-chan. It would be nice if you tried too.

| >>767631 Programs I need to make a living with are Windows exclusive, some of which can't be Wine-d.

| >>767650
that's impossible desu, have a down vote and please go away.

| Edit: Thanks for the gold kind stranger!

| >>767654 >>767650
Remove yourself

| >>767655
Make me, faggot

| >>767658
You're pretty childish

| >>767660
*facepalm*

| Wholesome 100 Big Chungus

| Can I get a poggers in the chat?

| Joke is on Windows, because my computer is liquid cooled.

| >>767651
If you go "full caveman," you won't be able to use the software anyway.

| >>767711 I can sell you rocks. Want some?

| >>767717
It this supposed to be a joke?

| The logo is ugly.

| >>767717 do you have any flint my kid let the warming fire burn out and lost our last one

| >>767792 mhmm. How much would you like? Always good to have backup flint! Get some for your kid maybe? Then he won't go losing yours, and will be able to start the fire on his own. I can get you flint, g/u/rl.

| >>767778 It is literally a subdivided plane who's faces are separated and individually shrunken down...

| The logo meta these days...

| Windows keeps getting worst. Can't they just make a bloat free and secure Windows XP/7 instead of what they have now?

| So w11 will mark the day were every nerdish g/u/rls will convert to linux ?

| Wait you are saying some still didn't?

| >>768065
2022 will be the year of the Linux Desktop!

What..? What's so funny?

| >Windows 10 is the last windows we'll keep on just updating it
- Microsoft representative that didn't know a new Windows after 10 was inevitable

| I wonder how they'll deal with Windows 13.

Microsoft: The extra lucky Windows 13
Person: What kind of luck?
Microsoft: We require an NDA for that answer.

| >>768403 you are saying it like the naming convention is sequential xD oh sweet summer child

|

| Based on Microsoft's official requirements you need an internet connection to install Windows 11. This means people without internet access at home, especially in rural and poorer households, won't be able to use Windows 11.

| TPM 2.0, UEFI secure boot and Microsoft account required.

Microsoft intends targetted advertising, monitor and control of content. Bittorrent clients have been listed as "unwanted".

| >>768709 yeah if they don't change the secure boot and other requirements they're going to have a whole lot of people that won't or can't install it, not every bios has it, has it enabled, or has tpm 2

my ryzen system has tpm 1.2 so if they don't reduce those requirements they're preventing lots of people from using it which seems counter to selling ads to as many people as they can, seems probable they'll reduce it or don't gain much from uses switching to 11 ad revenue wise

| >>768735 targetted advertising is very profitable though. It's possible they may lower the requirements or they may also think of it as a temporary short term loss. (I'm not sure if they'll adjust the requirements though.)

Also Microsoft seems to have a lot of interest in developers/programmers, since they have github and recently seem to be focused on expanding the windows store by allowing apps from other platforms [being one project they've stated], among other incentives.

| They're making windows edge (an outsourced program) part of the kernel like help&tips is in windows 11. I am a security management guy. You guys are fucked.
Use MX Linux or Ubuntu like we do if you want any semblance of security.

There are bugs that we will NOT fix and instead sell to companies like piotrbania and security agencies around the world.

| >>768805 fake!
If you'd have any security knowledge, you'd recommended qubesos, instead of that insecure ubuntu

| >>768844 an os for pros vs an os usable by the average windows user which is still a big improvement

| >>768758 for sure it's good money, I mean that compared to their income from win 10 already it might not be a big improvement in profit if they're making it so hard to upgrade, seems like they have a bigger goal than just targeted advertising if they push forward with these requirements

| >>768805 to be fair it's probably an improvement compared to it being Internet explorer

I'm just waiting on easy anti-cheat working under Linux/wine for the games I play to switch

| >>768892 in median user's hands, Ubuntu is not secure. Neither are majority of other distros

| if you wanma be secure use a calculator not a computer
