Four days ago, Raymond Hill, maker of the uBlock Origin extension upon which Nano Adblocker is based, revealed that the new developers had rolled out updates that added malicious code.
...the apps that are compromised. they're spinoffs of a superior utility, uBlock Origin.
Its literally in your OP.

Oh lord please don't get into another argument about the meaning of words. We already went through the whole free and libre fiasco, we don't need another on forks and spin-offs.

>>707008 we should just call it a fork.
I'm not offended, I think OP just didn't understand the slang I used to describe the situation.

Generally I would say "spin-off" and "fork" can be used as synonyms in some cases. The only difference is, that spin-off is usually more used on media products (movies, series, comic-books, etc.), while "fork" is more used in (open source) software development. But this is more a question of convenience then of meaning. >>707036 What Fiasco? Wasn't "libre" just introduced to have a stand-alone lemma for "free as in freedom" (instead "as in free beer")?

is nano adblocker related to the famous "ad blocker" we all know and use? if so this is big news, but if this is just a third party ad block you get what you deserve for downloading a third party

We all know and use ublock origin these days the "ad block" was sold years back
And yeah apparently this was a fork of ublock so people could have seen this coming

Is adblock plus safe?
Post number #709526, ID: bac7a7

>>709518 it's safe but bad, they basically forced Google and other services to pay them to be whitelisted which is why it does/did show ads on youtube, which defeats the purpose of an ad blocker
Use ublock origin instead it's open source and doesn't do shandy stuff like that
