Did a bit of light research
One of the flaws with disc media is that the writeable version often used a dye, that would break down over time or under uv light
Bd-r lth has this issue but you can buy bd-r htl which uses an inorganic alloy instead and should mitigate that
Next problem is you need to find decent quality discs at lower than a bit more than 2 cents per gb since at that price you could buy spinning rust and save a bit of fiddling with a burner and the discs themselves
