Windows 10 on older machines

| So I got my hands on an old laptop. It runs Win10, and while everything seems to be smooth, running larger websites/applications (namely steam gaymz or discord) causes intense lag in said applications (meanwhile the system runs okayish).

Pretty good specs for its price, but I find them irrelevant for the problem: task manager shows low to medium ram/cpu usage during the lag.

So I thought it's some driver issue.

Integrated graphics, so no gpu driver. Latest DirectX. I'm not trying to spread conspiracies here, but what could be the issue?

I wanted to have a handy Windows laptop for cases when wine fails to deliver (already an ubuntu user), so I'd rather not replace it with anything linux.

Sorry for blogging. Anyone experienced something similar?

| If you suspect it's the GPU bottlenecking then try turning off Hardware
Acceleration for Discord and the Windows UI(and maybe even steam?).

If I were you I would've done a health check on the HDD as well and make sure to uncheck everything you don't need in services.

What are the specs on the laptop anyway?

| HDD could be the culprit here, aye. >>690973

it's a thinkpad x220.
Samsung ssd.
intel integrated graphics, dont remember details.
i7-2640.
Great on paper, main con is its age (I've been told it's 2012). However, as mentioned, task manager does not display any significant cpu/ram usage.

| OP again. Not sure if the ID changed.
The culprit is gpu - or rather the lack of it. 2nd gen cpu lacks the power to handle graphics, so graphic-intensive apps lag.

Case closed. Thank you for your attention to this subject.

| >>691003 it lags because the Sandy Bridge Intel is a house fire. Shit throttles all the time.

Do said apps run smoother after turning off Hardware Acceleration?
