So does LCD. Stop looking at phones in showroom with max brightness and same fucking thing to display for days

Depends. My LG V30 has a pretty nasty burned in screen. But I really like the lower power consumption of the screen and the ability to turn off pixels for saving power.

Is there actually any new display tech that actually focuses on simplicity and improving reliability? because that would be very nice

>>687992 ya mean electrons. also electron guns can be built quite small.

Small isn't simple tho, even if you mean it that way LCD panels can be alot smaller than CRT's and have lesser components than CRT's.

Wonder why haven't anyone mentioned e-ink. Sure, it kinda sucks when many colors and high refresh rate are needed, but it's power efficiency and clarity of picture are unmatched among other display types.

Eink works only for reading. It works beautifully for reading, but that's it. You can't watch a movie on it.

>>688344 Using any kind of UI in e-ink is nauseating. I'll probably use e-ink for a CLI-based workspace though. It seems like a great idea.

Have any of you tried QLED from Samsung's TVs ? I actually own one and I very satisfied with it despite all the hate it gets from the OLED fans but yeah, tried LG's OLED and it wasn't that good.

>>688345 there was a guy on 4chan /tv/ who wrote a script that took a movie and saved a frame each time a new subtitle came in i think. with all the frames you could generate an epub file and actually read a movie on an e-book.

>>688344 I unironically would buy it if it didn't cost above $130 and could last at least 7 days on 1 charge.
