GB / GiB is kinda scammy

| Storage manufacturer lists their capacity with GB which is fair but Windows (and probably other OS?) still uses GB to mean GiB which is confusing. Pretty sure this isn't difficult to standardize, unless it already is and I'm missing out on the news?

| Well the "1GB = 1000000000 bytes" disclaimer... os rly dumb

| well heres the problem
Gibibyte sounds retarded when spoken
nobody will ever switch to it
including myself and i think that the GiB is the correct way of measuring bits

best way i see of fixing this is just to accept that society has decided that GB means GiB
and that any companie that sticks with the deffinition deserves a lawsuit

| So It's kindof already a standard and has been for at least a decade just social not a written.

| I think Google drive is in GiB but I'm not 100% sure

| What other services/products use GiB that you're aware of?

| some also write GiB as Gb as opposed to GB. that makes it even more confusing
