is libreoffice good now?

| last time i used it, it has a lot of compatibility issues with ms office

Why not just use the open document format? Or does MS-Office have compatibility issues with it?
I only work with libreoffice. I even have an automatic mail replier which refuses Attachments with ms-office formats, not only for compatibility but also security reasons. It also tells the sender to use Open Document format.
If I work with others the first thing I do is to make clear that I only accept free (as in freedom) standards.

| I just use markdown for everything I can and sadly Google's online office when markdown isn't enough

You sound like a lot of fun to work with.

| I use LibreOffice for everything at College, the only trouble you may find is in PowerPoint related things

| >>553983 If someone at your job came and forced you to buy a mac (and you don't own one) because they want to use a mac-only software that is just crappy for no good reason, you'd probably not be happy about it and see it as a waste of money.
This is the same.

| >>553993 wait, your job doesn't give you a company MacBook to use?
Mine doesn't even allow the use of hardware not owned by the company to work

| Still awful. Even Office 2010 has better compatibility and UI.

If work is fun, than I wouldn't call it work. The web2.0/smart/cloud bubble will explode soon, and then hose who thought their work is fun because they could sit the whole time wanking in their bureaus will learn that real work isn't fun at all.

| >>554684 you must be a LOT of fun to work with

| >>553893
Been using it for over a year now, never looked back
I mostly use it for school purposes, so if you need it for other things, it may not be the best tool
Still, nothing beats Free As In Freedom (tm) software

If I want fun, I go doing stuff like sports, party or sex. In these cases you will have a LOT of fun with me.
But not at work. Don't believe in the fancy, glossy booklets that promise fun at work. If you work for loan, no matter how high, then you are nothing but a being exploited by someone who benefits from it just because he/she came out from the right boom. Employers image campaigns about free and independent people can't fool me that they just want trained monkeys.

The guy has really long replies. Stop calling him

| I still don't understand why some people think they're better than just using a basic text editor like do you really even use those features, do you even know what features are there

| >>555151

People like both exclusivity and being part of groups which allow them to fake being knowledgeable, which is why they engage in retarded fights about which software is better than another when they don't even have a single clue of computers/software/programming, etc or even lack a use case for them, which is a plague in OSS, sadly.

| Whenever I click Save As in libre Calc, it crashes. I've sent crash reports

At this point It would be interesting whether you've enabled the native or your desktop environments/systems file dialogue in libre office.
I'd always recommend using the KDE Desktop.

| I'm currently using onlyoffice (another open source office suite) and I'm liking it. The interface is neat.
