Win n Lin beef not smoothing ?

| As the title suggests. Is the beef between Lin and Wins still going strong and becoming worse or lighten up ?

Not to sound like a geg but , where did the beef initially occur ?

| It appears to be lightning up which is hugely problematic if you look at Microsoft's history with other companies.

| It should become worse. Microsoft is pushing their retarded policy to the extreme, so all we can hope for now is a real separation of the open web/software on one side, and the shitty Microsoft/Apple/Facebook and co. on the other side.

| >>477559 on this board? it's never gonna stop.

| I've been here since soon after Danger/u/ was formed. I remember those good old days when /tech/ was one of the dead boards.

And then people start posting. And it was nice for a short moment. And then, I dunno, there were threads about posting your tech set ups and only the Linux people were loud.

I don't remember when the first obviously Windows user was ridiculed, but it happened. Things just ebb and flow since then. Now's one of the flow moments

| This beef exists because proprietary software (like microcock wangblows) users are ignorants. They EITHER don't get why their choice for proprietary software violates other's people freedom, no matter how often you explain why, OR they just give a fuck. In their stupidness they managed to make justified critique and real arguments memes like "uh look at me pretending to be an evil linux-elitist: install gentoo!" Quite familiar stuff happens in other discussions too.

| >>479261
And as you can see from my choice of words I kinda surrendered to those idiots and may be became a part of the problem myself. So I may be morally not better then them when it is about the discussion style, but at least I value, practice and preach freedom and try not to take it away from other people. I'm always open for a real discussion (even thought everything was already said to this), but don't expect it to be my default setting anymore. Thank you wangblows-fanatics!

| So somehow my choice to use Windows for my own personal computer affects your freedom of choice? And to fix that, I'm told that I shouldnt use Windows, neither Mac, but should instead only use Linux-based OS?

| >>483904
What you don't seem to understand is that Microsoft's monopoly is based solely on users who took Windows for their "own personal computer". Being a constant income source for Microsoft makes you part of the problem, yes.
And since Mac acts similarly, it would be the same.
What you apparently cannot grasp is that Linux is free, in every aspect of the word. So it doesn't impact anyone if you don't want it to. That's the reason behind this difference.

| >>483904
But you are right, Linux isn't the only solution to stop affecting other's freedom. You can also stop using a computer at all.

| >>483904
>So somehow my choice to use Windows for my own personal computer affects your freedom of choice?
Exactly. Because Microsoft made their proprietary company standards the general standard - at least in the desktop computing segment. Fortunately they did not yet achieve this in the server and mobile device sectors. Otherwise, in the last one google, and even more apple, are the two dominant players, even thought android is actually usable without googrge googwell stuff.

| >And to fix that, I'm told that I shouldnt use Windows,
In fact no one should use it, until it respects open standards and microsoft stops stealing other peoples ideas, rebranding it, closing it and selling it as their stuff.

>neither Mac,
You can't drive out the devil with the beelzebub
>but should instead only use Linux-based OS?
Ideally yes. But there also others like FreeBSD, OpenSolaris or Minix.

| >>487937
On top of that, i would go so far to say there is no technological necessity for windows at all. As you may noticed all other OSes I mentioned (including MacOS) were derived from Unix. Microsoft had once a unix in their repertoire. And now with NT as the kernel since windows 2000, windows becomes more and more unix alike functionality to improve security and stability - but still keeping its artificial restrictions to bind customers and exclude concurrence.

| >>483904 yes, these are the SJW mentality that you need to bend over and accept in /tech/. They are getting offended for stuff that indirectly affect them.

If /tech/ see you fapping to undertale porn, and that make /tech/ disgusted, which eventually kill their boners, you are part of the problem now. You should not exist in this world.

| >>487969
Such a magnificent argumentation. If you have nothing smart to say, stay silent.

| >>487969
When I shit on your desk, does it affect you directly or indirectly? And does complaining about it make you a "SJW"? Your argumentation is not very convincing, because it's based on made up concepts that can be reversed, depending on quantitative interpretation dominance. In fact most people that complain about "SJWs" have themselves the mentality of beeing easily triggered. It's a cheap and convenient defense mechanism of people that are afraid of beeing wrong.

| >>487969
Also the second paragraph of your statement doesn't make any sense to me. It's out of context and semantical nonsense.

| >>487988 /tech/ is r/iamverysmart confirmed

| >>490264
I only knew a few people that have to do with technology and beeing not smart. It's those who think "installing (in fact buying) an app" is the proof of their technological competence. People often confuse marketing and economical competence with technological. It's done on purpose. Marketing dudes want to sell their shit, so they must convince people they're smart technicians.
