Hey g/u/rls, I'm hoping to start making a shitty indie game with GoDot, but I'm so new to coding that I'm kinda lost from the get go.
So anybody have recommendations on learning the basics of python coding? the language closest to the GDscript GoDot uses.

The answer is always the same: Codacademy for the basis, then go on with Learn Python the hard way. Most important: find yourself a project to work on during all this. the project will teach you 100x more than the courses, but you can't do a thing without the courses.

For learning godot, games from scratch on YouTube has a pretty great comprehensive tutorial series for godot, I'd recommend him
Once you're done there just start watching more godot tutorials and work on some basic projects, you'll eventually get the hang of it.
Having some coding experience does help and there's millions of python tutorials out there but you can learn the basics of coding while learning godot, best of luck.
