Google searches just made me even more curious and confused. What does danger/u/ consider as the best phone for gaming?

An Androin tablet. Use phone for communication (chat, email, sms, calls, etc). Use a tablet for media consumption (games, videos, ebooks, etc.). Your devices will last much longer that if you just use one device for everything. And you'll have a better media consumption experience on a larger screen.

Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 seems decent if available in your country.

Except that the tablet ecosystem is abysmal in Android. The few decent tablets are dying and aging, and there doesn't seem to be anyone interested in making a new, better tablet (that isn't rehashed from older models.)
For OP: Any flagship is able to take down any game with no problem, but if you're on budget, midrange phones like the Moto Z2 Play and such are also able to hold up with pretty much most games in the Play Store.
