ive been wanting to switch from windows11 to linux for so long because they're eating my fucking ram but i mainly use it for gaming specifically emulators (nintendo switch games) but i don't know how they'll preform. and i don't know which distro is best for gaming i saw people talking about bazzite and pop os but they too use lots of ram compared to other distros so should i go with mint or arch?

i know that mint doesn't use a lot of resources even with desktop themes, but if i get that "hyperland" or whatever on arch is ut gonna consume a lot?

If you first dipping into linux I personally recommend trying mint or Kubuntu (KDE plasma desktop) they're good for starters, quite stable, and good enough for most gaming
Once you get more experience and knowledge though, I recommend CachyOS (arch based) it's probably one the best distros among linux distros

just install both distors, and partition your home seperatly.
This way you get to try both and you don't loose your data if you mess something up.
(so you create a MintRoot, ArchRoot, Boot and Home partition)

if your library is mostly/entirely steam, try bazzite.

>>1094851 hyprland is extremely lightweight on it's own but I'm not sure if I'd reccomend it if you're looking for a traditional desktop experience (it's a tiling window manager so it prioritizes key-combos for most interactions with the workspace).
