Just random topics about laptops.
I've been planning on expanding my storage to 1TB, should I replace my M.2 NVMe? I only have 1 slot, and it would be a hassle to reinstall the OS and redownload everything. Or should I go for a SATA SSD instead? Problem about his is that my laptop doesn't have a SATA connector or cable, and finding the right one is going to be hard.

No effort! Effort BAD! Put your files on ‘the cloud’ then replace the M2.

>>1068915 I never tried cloning before, but I have considered it while researching about having a new SSD. Though I kind of want to have clean blank slate of an SSD, where I could start over and install programs and software I actually need, as of right now I have a messy SSD. But I will consider cloning.

to reinstall all installed software on os 1: dpkg --get-selections > packages.txt on os 2: sudo dpkg --set-selections < installed_packages.txt sudo apt-get dselect-upgrade rpm can do the same with -qa and install $(cat packages.txt). if you run nix or some other hyperautistic snowflake os, idk figure it out

Do you bring your laptop around? Because a SATA reader that connects to USB is cheap and sold pretty much everywhere and also works perfectly well. Might be a hassle to bring around though.

>>1068932 I bring my laptop outside 4x a week. Unfortunately, I already have a mouse and an external keyboard (certain keys no longer work) plugged in to two of my USB ports, adding in with a USB Hub feels a bit cluttered. I like the idea though.
