Try to minimize use of AUR, if you on arch; try get the first unstable (next after stable one) distro for to obtain more modern soft, if debian your choice (as I remember it is Trixie). FORGET *buntu series! Void also nice choice. The void and Debian both has distro version with GUI prepared (XFCE). When choosing remember the main things are: 1. Initialization subsystem (own one, runit, systemd,..) 2. Package manager (own one, pacman, xbps, apt,..). Arch wiki is good even for oth.
