Hi, g/u/rl from the fave distro thread here. Hyprland is very good and I love it! Insane capability with everything you can do. However, waybar was the status bar tool I chose. It fucking SUCKS!!! SO BAD!!! The documentation is really inconvenient to navigate, leaves context out of certain functions on modules that really need better explanation. But its worst crime is just having a really shitty css implementation for its styling.

:root{} isn't recognized, variables don't seem to work at all, how the styles are applied is very unclear anddinconsistent since it's undefined what elements the classes and IDs are actually on (ie, a container for all modules in a group, or the modules within a given group) for instance, .modules-left center or right apply styles to the whole container around a group of elements. But .module, something framed like a catch all for the groups, applies it to every element.

lots of years ago i installed sway. it was horrible. i thought since it's new it will get better with time, i stuck with it and it did. but it's still horrible just not as much and i still use it. this was a mistake.
Don't repeat my mistake, try other stuff before sticking with something for years.
writing this out makes me think i need to stop making exscuses and switch to something else

>>1056014 ya once I spent 2 hours trying to get any semblance of coherent theme going only for half of the css functions to not be allowed I just decided to uninstall it. I'm gonna try out eww cause it's built in rust, my beloved, and looks like it'll be better.

Also I've started messing with eww a little bit! Documentation is still a bit confusing but it at least seems more consistent and competent than waybar. Plus there's a lot more it's capable of doing.

>>1056238 update: I think I've run into a bug and I can't apply styles to any widgets cause of some class weirdness ;-; I think maybe hyprland is not for me. I'm gonna be crawling back to KDE again at this rate. Does anyone know a good toolbar on wayland that actually works? I'm tired of spending hours doing configs just for shit to be broken. At this point I just want something I can install and have decent out of box

>>1056314 you may or not have different package versions. I've never used pop os so I'm not sure how different the packages are. But! You should still be able to install the same stuff.
