I want like an ereader but for writing

| I like writing but I hate my handwriting and hate having to carry around my heavy laptop even more.

Is there a single-purpose device that's light and portable and has a keyboard and used ONLY for writing? (or rather, typing) And a way to transfer that writing elsewhere (USB, wireless, whatever)

Closest I can think of is a small laptop but the lighter ones tend to be expensive as shit. I don't need everything else a computer can do, I just want to write!

| I’m kinda notebook and laptop pilled g/u/rl, thin chromebooks running Linux or low spec thin used laptops probably aren’t so bad. I’ve had a good experience buying used laptops on eBay. I’ve seen people with tablet cases with built in keyboards which were very cute and small. I also saw a fastman guide with just using an Android and foldable Bluetooth keyboard as the ultimate punk hacker machine!!!!
You could also work on your hand writing? I’ve been trying a little lately myself!

| Companies like BOOX make e-ink android tablets with detachable keyboards, they also come with a wacom-like pen. But they're rather expensive...

| there is this japanese company pomera doing exactly this

Ooh this looks wonderful! I can't find anyone distributing/importing these locally, but I'm just glad something like this exists anyway!

Also I'm happy seeing someone made a whole dedicated blog for it.

Yeah, I've been looking up portable bluetooth keyboard for my phone and it seems, doable? I'll probably be annoyed with where I should put my phone though, like how should I position it if I'm working on my lap?

| >>1050010 neat, but for $365 that's a hard pass. Just pick up a second hand Eee PC netbook for next to nothing, install a Linux distro with a simple window manager (think in the realm of fluxbox) and the writing app of your choice.

| Yeah… I would get annoyed too. You can get cases with little stands to support your phone but I would go for Linux on a used chrome book… or really a physical note book and accept the writing problems. Oooh and the lap problem too hmm

I honestly think writing onto a phone screen would get frustrating. There’s a reason everyone settled on letter sized paper generally.

| I only know of this DIY solution. The README mentions the original idea it got inspired by, so maybe one of them is what you're looking for:

| Foldable Bluetooth keyboard!!! You'll look like a nerd with yer phone but it's nifty.
