Senate Republicans have blocked a move to pass an aid bill for Ukraine after failing to secure border compromises they sought in exchange.
The $110bn (£87.3bn) package included $61bn for Ukraine, as well as funds for Israel and aid for Gaza.
The White House has warned that US funds for Ukraine could soon run out.

A Ukrainian official said that failure to secure more US aid would mean a "very high possibility" that the war will be lost to Russia.
While Republican members are generally in favour of aid to Ukraine, some have sought to use the issue as a way to address mounting domestic concerns over the US southern border.

Senators - including every single Republican - voted 51 to 49 against advancing the bill, with 60 votes needed. The vote throws uncertainty into the future of aid for Ukraine and sends lawmakers back to the negotiating table just days before Congress has scheduled its winter break.
Republicans are insisting that any aid to Ukraine be tied to sweeping US immigration and asylum reforms.

Earlier on Wednesday, US President Joe Biden said he was "willing to make significant compromises on the border" in order to get the aid bill passed.
"This cannot wait," he said, adding that "Republicans in Congress are willing to give Pitler the greatest gift he could hope for".

>>989566 yeah we all do but you really think giving into the aggressor is the right action here?
In a 1940 speech, Roosevelt argued, "Some, indeed, still hold to the now somewhat obvious delusion that we … can safely permit the United States to become a lone island … in a world dominated by the philosophy of force."

>>989566 their not the same thing through and supporting Ukraine is a huge benefit for the west, global security, showing our allies we will support them and we'd be aiding a fledging democracy.
It also costs nothing the us military has bottomless pockets and that spending creates us jobs too its a win win.

>>989719 Same poster here. Throwing Ukraine to the wolves, assuming Pitler takes the country, it will erode trust in being a US ally plus it puts Russia right on the boarders of europe which leaves Estonia, Poland and Finland which targets on their backs.
Plus Pitler will feel emboldened to make legit nuclear threats and not just puff talk going forward plus he will have the west completely cucked.

If you take a look at Russian state media they have outright bragged that they want genocide of Ukraine, they are downright psychotic.

What people don't understand is that supporting Ukraine means more Russians and Ukrainians dead, both. Give them more deadly weapons. Give them cluster munitions. More mines. A ton of dumb bombs. We don't need actual people to die in this conflict, the apes can go kill each other all they like. We just need to sit back, throw them money, and enjoy the fireworks. There is literally no downside. Why stop?
