Isn't it the opposite case? I mean the the official goal of socialism is communism. And while socialists successfully put pressure on politics to make capitalism a little bit more social, they failed on the other hand to create a proper alternative, sometimes even horribly.
I wouldn't even say it's impossible to do (especially regarding recent technological developments) but changes have to be both fundamentally and universally, well planned and still dynamically...
