Funny idea help!(not so serious)

| Inspired by Copyright law discussion.

So what if we created an internet governament? And we created our own laws and amendments and then the companies and world leaders can not interfere and ruin the internet for us ^_^

| >governament

| Technically that would be like building a raised platform above a country, and saying it isn't a part of that country, and trying to enforce laws on that platform.
Simply put, that isn't how it works. A website is legally a territory within the country it is hosted in, and therefore subject to that nation's laws.
Now, if you want to go put some servers on an oil rig in international waters, then maybe.

| >>709922 All I want is for censorship to go away, so whatever works is fine

| While this would be a great idea in theory this would be hard to implement,we could have some sort of global organisation like WHO that manages the safety on the internet, the rights of people online and stuff like that, but it'll be hard to convince world governments to agree to this idea as censorship is quite useful for a few countries' political agenda. There's even the issue of there probably being the need to have different laws for different countries due to cultural difference

| So yeah probably not feasible

| >>e3d990 :<

| I mean you could try studying law or something and try starting an organisation like that, nothing's stopping you from trying

| >>709975 hmmm lets do it togheter, I would need a ton of help, we could call it the Internet world security IWS

| >>710118 If you're serious about this idea and would consider studying law or political science(or even cyber security) maybe we can discuss this in another place

| >>710122 tbh, I dont think Im qualiffied to do it

| It would be a neat idea. One thing a government needs to enforce laws is a monopoly of power, though. That means you need to be able to remove/restore any piece of data online and that nobody else can do that. Considering that most governments don't remove data from the internet directly, but prefer to send SWAT teams, it probably isn't feasible to attempt to enforce laws that way.

As such I propose we instead form our own SWAT team and destroy the servers of the companies.

| >>710339 how about spreading the internet in factions? Centering power is never good
