Seems like it's just an accident, but they're still investigating. At least 100 dead, 4000 wounded, a massive hit to grain silos and who know what else in the city.

| that nitrate got basically abandoned for years. i would not be surprised if the security had gotten lax over the years. all it takes is an info slip to someone who wants to do a lot of damage and knows how to start a fire.

actually it was around 2.750 tons of ammonium nitrate. 1 ton are thousand kilos. And the dot here is an ISO-conform separator for thousands (your comma reads like a decimal separator, which would only mean 2,3kg)

| So there has been a massive explosion in beruti. The source claimed has been of ammonium nitrate of potentially 2,300kg. Registering a 3.5 magnitude earthquake. Donald Trump claims it is an attack via Twitter. Sources for this and more will be provided when I get some sleep and have a break at work tomorrow.
