American police act like occupying armies. They literally studied their tactics.

| The aggressive response – and in many cases, over-response – of American law enforcement agencies has invigorated a bipartisan push in Congress to ban transfers of military materials to police. Yet the 20th-century history of US policing shows that truly demilitarizing the police will be more difficult than simply removing the body armor.

| Our law enforcement agencies learned many of the most routine aspects of contemporary policing from US imperial excursions abroad for the purpose of stamping out rebellion.

| Jusr let the police be dude, not all cops are bad, there is rioters in the middle of the protestors, they didnt want to be there and we are in the middle of a pandemic

| well tbh the police is the inland "minimalisticly" violent force under the general state of military

well tbh America is the only western country that has a militarized police force. It's mostly something you see in regimes and corrupt countries.

What kind of an argument is that lol?

| Yanks

| >>675260 America is as corrupt as they come. Certain wars and disputes that still go on to this day despite America supporting "one side" could have ended years ago if America wanted that to happen or if America never intervened in the first place.

| All police should be more integrated with their communities rather than be treated as a separate governmental institution. I think somewhere along the line people forgot that to be 'for the people', you have to be 'with the people'. And to do that people should at least be more informed about their local law enforcement authorities like what are the laws they have to enforce regularly, what are the proper conducts both sides should take when interacting, stuff like that.
