| Probably the latter. The rich control too much of the media and politics in general, and too many folks seem complacent with a few cops being charged in a frankly slanted af judicial system.
It's sad but I mean this is the age of decadence. Not much we can do but look out for ourselves and our community.

There actually are influential and economical successful non-white, non-heteronormative cismen upperclass people in the USA. Their difference to the lower class is: They prioritize their class interests over everything else. Rich women, people of color, homosexuals, etc. may show solidarity with poorer versions of themselves. But this is only for the show or to push their personal interests. In the end they hang around in the same ivory tower along with people like trump.

| The only way out of an eternal crisis accompanied by permanent fascist threat is overcoming the artificial overvalued and partly entirely made up national, ethnical, religious and sexual differences and putting the (lower) classes interests on the top. Another big challenge is to fill the gap between the lower middleclass (which is eroding) and people with an even lover status: homeless and jobless people, illegal immigrants, etc.

Why is it stupide? If you see racism (& sexism, war, etc.) as an expression of inherent contradictions in our current economical power structures, than it's quite logical to overthrow those power structures in order to get rid of racism (& sexism, war, etc.)

Despite the main slogan of the movement being "Black Lives Matter", I'm seeing an increase in support, especially the interracial solidarity, with more demands on ending the poverty and police brutality to all people.

But hopefully this is a step towards growing class consciousness. We are not there yet, but this surely is a small step towards it.

While the elites, the ruling class are using it to maintain their power, the status quo. Why do you think those big brands and companies are pushing only the racial issue to support the BLM?
They don't want the movement to escalate into class struggle. For them, class consciousness must be prevented.
