What I am more worried about is that this might just be the catalyst that plunges the US into a full blown recession. There are many economic indicators saying we are in a recession but,the stock market has not reflected that or seem even fazed at all from that news being announced months before.

It took mistakes from the choices the Communist party made about SARS (being selective about what to say and what to allow foreign health workers to do) that made them speak differently about the new coronavirus.
I still see some behaviour from the SARS outbreak being applied today in Hubei province - censorship, awful vagueness, selective attitude from the government.
