You'd be surprised. Countries like Poland are mentally papal states. We are still dealing with splitting the church from the politics, but it feels impossible because half of the country is blindly catholic. This is why we had issues with women rights for some time as any kind of abortion was banned for a few years until recently, but of course this still causes seething even though women are mostly aborting either from rape or from
| medical repercussions since not everyone wants to raise a child that has some serious disability. The state won't really help you with that, nor will the people around you.

Hopefully this time they select someone that revolutionizes the entire catholic church institution. They are really losing out on people who are younger than 40 years old due to how conservative they are.
