| it's honestly just experience and knowledge. you can only play off the cuff (good) if you practice and prolly study a bit of music theory, but only the lil bits that matter to not making a godawful sour note. that or look at YouTube videos lol

how do you do that? picking chords that are consonant to melodies? neutralizing dissonant notes with another interval?
how do you notate/comlose just by memory, on the stop like that????
