trying to play popular musics from 80s to recent lo fi on piano.... any tips on knowing how to improvise the thing/playing lookalikes? i know theyre mostly scales and chords but other than that how do you learn any song?

check out the intervals and chord progressions from few of your favorites and build tonal memory by recognizing how and why the composers construct those while playing.
