How do you go about making music and getting yourself known?

So, I've written a couple songs I'm proud of and I'm currently writing one I'm really taking a liking to. I've found a producer who sells beats I can afford and that fits my music. But I don't really know how to go about this. I don't think I have any mic with good quality. I'm not sure which programs to use, I only have Audacity. I'll probably just put it on SoundCloud, but I don't know how I can get listeners without spamming my stuff everywhere.

You spam your stuff everywhere.

>>648582 Well, that's probably what I'll have to result to for that last part.
Anyone got advice on the first two things though?

What do you do? Rap? Nowadays for mainstream it's mostly about good beats and signature sound so gotta work on that unless the producer is willing to work with just you alone. If I was doing rap I'd just make beats myself and try to make them really catchy.

>>648678 Rap, yeah. I'm glad you have musical talent, but I can't make beats for shit. I don't care about mainstream to be honest. That's not my goal. I just want to make some tracks and have at least some people know about them, you know? The producer isn't one who works with me personally. For that I would either have to know them personally or be decently well known. I need advice for getting started.

>>648976 I'm not sure how many people here would be interested in it, but sure. Just gotta make them first. I still haven't found a good program for recording and editing and shit.
>>649009 I'll be decent probably, considering it would be the first music I actually, properly make.

>>649044 I'll take that as at least two people being interested then, so then it's worth it. I might need a bit more money before I can purchase the beats I want, and while I'll definitely try to record with the only mic I have, it'll probably have shit quality. So it could take a while. I might have to buy a audio editing program as well. When I get my shit together and get something done I'll make a thread about it though.
