I always download FLAC or MP3 320 if it's not available in FLAC. Then I convert them to opus 256kbs vbr. The size reduction is great and I can't hear any compression. A sample chart: 45MB FLAC 8MB MP3 3MB OPUS

320 MP3 to Opus is fine, but I wouldn't recommend it. Avoid transcoding from MP3 to Opus as much as possible and only use lossless sources.

Yeah, either go directly from lossless to opus, or what i personally recommend to mp3 v0 (vbr)
